Staff Profiles – Westerby Investment Management
Leslie McLintic - Chairman & Group Managing Director
After a successful career in Design Engineering, Les McLintic became a financial adviser in 1978, as shareholder and director of a financial services firm. When the firm was acquired by The Commercial Union in 1987, Les established Westerby Investment Management Limited. In 1996, he established Westerby Trustees Limited, to provide specialist trusteeship and administration services.
A quarter of a century later, Les is Managing Director of the well established Westerby Group, which provides high quality financial solutions for both corporate and private clients.
Steve Harvey - Managing Director
Steve has been an independent financial adviser since 1981 and provides specialist advice for family businesses, entrepreneurs, private clients and high net worth individuals.
Sales and marketing director of Pointon York until 1999, he helped launch one of the first SIPPS in 1990, spending six years as a committee member of the original SIPP providers group, Association of Pensioneer Trustees, (AMPS) www.ampsonline.co.uk. Steve then moved to RSM Tenon and after thirteen years, joined Westerby Group in May 2012. Steve advises Westerby’s clients across the UK and works with third party introducers in financial planning, retirement strategies, investment advice and employee benefit arrangements.
Geoff Pitts - Director
Geoff has provided clients with his unique brand of Independent Financial Advice for the last 32 years, of which 22 have been with Westerby Investment Management.
He was a founder member of the Institute of Financial Planning back in 1988. He specialises in Investment Advice and Estate Planning, with the emphasis in simplicity and common sense, as much as good potential returns and tax mitigation, through a diversified portfolio.
Steve Giles, DipPFS - Senior Financial Consultant
Joining the financial services industry in 1987, Steve spent 10 years working for a major insurance company in Leicester, in sales support and then the Broker Sales Division. He then moved into independent financial advice working for another IFA firm for six years before joining Westerby Investment Management Limited in August 2003. He completed his Diploma in Financial Planning in 2007 and primarily specialises in pensions and investments.
Colin Hopewell - Senior Financial Consultant
Colin joined Westerby Investment Management in 2013 as a fully qualified financial advisor from RSM Tenon where he worked for four years as a senior consultant. Prior to this Colin’s career in financial services included almost a decade at Adams Tingle, one of the largest IFA firms in Northamptonshire (which became Thinc), Bland Bankart and Pointon York. Colin has considerable specialist experience of company pensions, employee benefits and retirement options for both individuals and businesses.
Danusia Ephraim, BSc CeMAP DipPFS - Senior Financial Consultant
Danusia Graduated from Nottingham University with a first class Bachelor of Science degree in 2005 and immediately joined The Derbyshire Building Society on its highly competitive Graduate Management Programme. During her 5 years at The Derbyshire Building Society, Danusia she gained her CeMAP and Certificate of Financial Planning qualifications which allowed her to provide holistic and independent financial advice when she moved to Oval Financial Services (now Arthur J. Gallagher). During this period of time she achieved further qualifications; Certificate in Life and Pensions, Diploma in Financial Planning and started her journey towards the prestigious ‘Chartered Financial Planner’ status. Danusia provides our clients and their families with jargon-free advice; specialising in Investment, Pension, Estate Planning and Protection solutions.
Sean Harriman BA (Hons) MA DipPFS - Financial Advisor
Sean graduated from the University of Leicester with a Master’s degree in the Summer of 2010, joining Westerby Trustee Services Limited in the autumn of the same year. After developing a good understanding of the SIPP/SSAS industry, and pension planning as a whole through Westerby Trustee Services Limited, Sean moved over to Westerby Investment Management Limited and has now achieved Consultant status after completing his Diploma in Financial Planning. Sean is currently progressing to Chartered status, and is part of our adviser team providing our private and corporate clients with full financial planning advice including investment and pension planning, individual and corporate protection and wealth management.
Victoria Leer – Operations and Compliance Manager
Victoria Leer joined Westerby Group as Operations and Compliance Manager in 2014 bringing over 25 years’ valuable experience in the financial services industry, gained at Grant Thornton, Clarkson Wayman Ball, HSP Financial Planning and Pole Arnold. Having previously advised clients, she is fully qualified as a Financial Adviser and maintains her Professional Standing with the Chartered Insurance Institute. Victoria provides support across the group at a senior level, working closely with directors in both Westerby Trustees Services and Westerby Investment Management. Compliance is a complex and essential aspect of the financial services industry and Victoria’s primary focus is maintaining the integrity of our operations and compliance to provide essential reassurance for the Group, our clients and our professional connections.
Paul Smyth – Paraplanning Manager
Paul graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1996, and in 1997 started in financial services with a Leicester and Nottingham-based IFA, before joining Westerby Investment Management in 2000. Paul previously headed up the Westerby Administration Team and is now Manager of the Para-planning Team. In addition to this he works closely with advisory colleagues, carrying out research and report writing. He is currently working towards achieving Diploma status.
Debbie Hinks - Administration Manager
After leaving school, Debbie joined a large building society, working in the mortgage department. Moving to a large Life and Pensions office in Leicester Debbie worked her way up to assistant office manager. After 12 years, she moved to the IFA side of the industry. Debbie joined Westerby Investment Management in 2009, working alongside Les McLintic. With FPC and G10 qualifications, she currently heads up the Administration Team and is integral to our ongoing operations. Debbie is currently working towards her diploma.
Kaushika Chauhan - Senior Paraplanner
Graduating in 2001 from London Guildhall University and Copenhagen Business School with a degree in Business Law, Kaushika joined Lloyds Banking Group in London and began her career in financial services, initially part of a strategic ventures project that set up a brokerage service for international, buy to let and self build mortgages for the bank’s customers. She achieved her CeMap qualification and worked as a broker as well as assisting with mortgage underwriting before joining Lloyds TSB Private Banking in Birmingham as a paraplanner, gaining extensive experience in investment, inheritance and pension planning for high net worth clients by researching, report writing and supplying advisors with technical queries. Kaushika achieved her Diploma in 2010 and joined Westerby’s in 2013 as senior paraplanner, working closely with advisors, carrying out research and report writing. Currently studying for a Advance Diploma in Financial Planning.
